What is Clearly Safe?
At it’s core, Clearly Safe is an initiative to advise and assist schools in understanding and implementing the legally required safety protocols surrounding architectural glass and glazing.
Our aim is to ensure that all glass in schools is safe for children, teachers, and visitors alike, and to give school management and parents peace of mind that the glass is fully compliant with the necessary legislation.
Tell me more….
For nearly 30 years, the Workplace (Health, Safety, and Welfare) Act (1992) has retrospectively legislated over many safety aspects within public buildings, workplaces, hospitals, and schools. Whilst many of the various elements of this piece of legislation are well understood and implemented, one section especially is often overlooked or misunderstood.
“We aim to demystify and make clear regulation 14”
‘Regulation 14’ deals with safety relating to windows, transparent or translucent doors, gates and walls. Solar Sentry Window Films has been involved in helping many building owners to understand and implement these legally required regulations for the better part of 12 years, and in 2020 we have packaged together our expert knowledge and award-winning service into a new initiative – Clearly Safe!
“We want to make educational buildings even safer” – Tom Ludwig, Solar Sentry MD
Clearly Safe is an easy to follow, cost-effective process, with additional free expert advice and guidance throughout, helping schools (and others who have a duty of care to the public within their buildings) to demystify, understand, and implement these regulations, and move towards glass health and safety compliance in a sensible, no-nonsense, budget-friendly way.
Regulation 14 – Made Simple and Clear
Why?
Every year, broken glass is the cause of a great many injuries to children in schools, ranging from minor through to life changingly serious, and in extreme cases can be fatal. It is the responsibility and duty of care of a tenant/employer or business owner to ensure that the regulations laid out under the Workplace Act are abided by, and that the glass meets the relevant safety standards in specific risk areas – which involves correctly identifying risk areas, correctly identifying the safety rating of the glass, and ascertaining if this meets the required safety standards, followed by rectification/ improvement works to ensure the area meets Regulation 14 compliance.
The importance of getting this right cannot be understated, which is why Solar Sentry has rolled out the Clearly Safe Initiative to schools, starting in the Midlands areas. We offer a free of charge consultation to fully explain the requirements, and glass audit / risk assessment process, reduced rates on the actual surveying process, and additional free support in the process of creating a risk assessment.
At Solar Sentry, we are experts in safety window films, and their application to glass is a quick, hassle free and cost effective way to upgrade any glass to safety rated glass, in order to comply with Regulation 14 without the need to replace the glass. As part of Clearly Safe, we are also reducing our standard costs of the supply and application of clear or tinted safety films for schools as part of this process.
Dont Take Our Word For It…
“Following our Audit we were advised that we required a glass risk assessment. We found it almost impossible to find a company who could help us until we came across Solar Sentry. With their expert help and guidance we were able to identify and rectify the areas that needed addressing. Not only increasing the glass safety, but also providing us with a more economic resolutions to those we currently had. We have been impressed with their professionalism, service and the assistance they provided. We would highly recommend them to other schools looking for this service.” – Victoria Sawyer Bell, Business Manager – Greenvale Primary School
